Tis The Season to Be Green with A Car Donation

Nov 30th, 2009No Comments

It’s the holiday season and what more of a reminder of the importance of green do you need than the Christmas tree you are putting up in your home? It’s the time of year when we are reminded of the beauty of nature and how much it means to us. We are all doing something to go green these days whether it’s recycling the bottles in our home, using recycled paper goods or being more vigilant about not letting the faucet run endlessly. If we want to save the earth and continue to enjoy her majestic beauty, as we enjoy those Christmas trees, we need to go beyond recycling glass and paper and look at one of the worst pollutants of our earth – unwanted cars. If you’ve seen even one abandoned car you know what an eyesore it is but worse yet it’s detrimental to our water, land and air. Car donation is a great way to help keep more cars out of the landfill and when you donate a car to a green charity, you are helping save precious resources. If you have a car you no longer want, before you junk it, consider how you can donate a car to a green charity and help two important causes at once. Car Donation Helps the Red Cross Spread Safety This Holiday Season

Nov 30th, 2009No Comments

Preparedness is one of the Red Cross’s missions, and this year they offered Thanksgiving safety tips to Americans via their website. Thanks to continuing advancements in technology, people could simply click on the pod cast button to get live safety tips for their home and kitchen. Fire is one of the main causes of disaster and homelessness that the Red Cross responds to year round. The holiday season often sees a rise in home fires often caused by kitchen fires or the use of holiday candles in the home. The Red Cross bring aid, comfort and support to those ravished by fire and disaster and the donations they depend on include car donation. Though monetary donations are always needed, people can help the Red Cross when they donate a car to charity. The Red Cross is a non-government agency and as their services become more in demand at this time of year, they eagerly look for people who can donate a car. Some Green Possibilities When You Donate a Car to A Green Charity

Nov 28th, 2009No Comments

When you donate a car to a charity that uses green disposal, your car donation is carefully looked at for its recycling possibilities. The first material that your car donation offers the green charity you donate a car to is the steel and iron. During the green process, the steel and iron are magnetically separated from other materials from your car such as copper, aluminum, rubber and diverse plastics. When you donate a car to a green charity, reusing the steel from your auto donation may seem like an obvious choice. However, your vehicle donation offers green charities many possibilities when it comes to recycling your auto donation.

Brake pads and shoes have always been made from a mixture of synthetics and copper. But during the last decade the use of copper in brake pads as increased more than fifty percent. Today’s cars contain between fifteen and thirty percent copper so it makes sense that when you donate a car to a green charity you are helping to save copper, a precious resource from our earth. Not only are you saving copper when you donate a car to a green charity, but because of recycling copper from your car donation, you are cutting back on the dust and sulfur dioxide that gets into the air when mining for copper. ?Your Old Clunker Is A Gem of A Donation for the Red Cross

Nov 28th, 2009No Comments

Across the country thousands of young adults have graduated from college. While the recession has made finding that first post college job more challenging than generations before, many graduates have relentlessly pursued jobs and succeeded. An acquaintance from town recently told of how his neighbor’s young son had graduated and landed a job in a city where he would be able to take advantage of public transportation. He talked about how happy he and his wife would be to get his son’s ‘old clunker’ out of their driveway. It was the perfect time to donate a car to charity.

It would be more economical for his son to just jump on the morning train. However, he wasn’t sure what to do with the car. One thing was for sure: he did not want it lying around in his already crowded driveway and he certainly couldn’t just leave it sitting out on the street. Parking in his neighborhood was tight already. This acquaintance brought up vehicle donation. “Donate a car?” the neighbor asked. “Donate a used car?” he said again. He hadn’t even considered auto donation until that conversation.
