The Goodwill Industries of Kentucky was established in 1923 by Reverend John L. Fort. Back then it was run entirely out of the basement of the Reverend's Methodist Church. Since then, they've gone through many changes and have helped a lot of people in various ways throughout the years. Back when Goodwill Industries first began working in Kentucky, the motorcar was something that only the rich could afford, so vehicle donation was simply unheard of. Now, however, it is one of the charity's main sources of funding.

Today, Goodwill Industries of Kentucky has 55 donation centers and stores in 34 counties. According to their website, 75% of residents in Kentucky live within 20 miles of a Goodwill store.

As with Goodwill Industries in other states, the Goodwill Industries of Kentucky relies heavily on vehicle donation in order to improve the lives of people in the community. These vehicles are often sold to families in need at a discounted price. Alternatively they are auctioned off in order to raise vital funding for the many projects managed by the charity. No matter what happens when you donate your car, though, you can rest assured that it will be used to benefit the life of somebody less fortunate than yourself. If there's one thing you know to be true of Goodwill Industries, its that they never pass over an opportunity to improve somebody's life.

At Goodwill Industries of Kentucky's annual award ceremony in February 2009, Roland R. Blahnik, president and CEO of the organization, said that he wanted to recognize the companies and individuals that have contributed to Goodwill's ongoing success. He praised his fellow Kentuckians for their support in providing employment and training services across the state.
