Greater East Bay Goodwill Industries Celebrates 90 Years of Serving the Public
Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay has been helping people in the counties of Alameda, Contra Costa and Salano in California since it's establishment in 1919. In February of 2009, they celebrated their 80th anniversary.
To mark this anniversary, president and CEO John B. Latchford said this; "Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay is very proud to have reached this milestone in our history of having helped those facing barriers to employment for 90 years. Over these years, we helped more than 100,000 of our community members in need."
"While 2009 poses challenges to the agency as demand for services is rising while funding resources are dwindling, we are confident that Goodwill will continue to be a leader in workforce development. Our 90 years of success at helping the community, even through tough economic periods, not only beckons us to reflect on our accomplishments but gives us the confidence to look toward the future and ensure that we are meeting the community's needs for the next 90 years," he added.
According to Goodwill Industries of the Greater East Bay's website, more than ninety percent of every dollar they receive goes towards helping people in the community. If you've donated clothes or furniture before, you have helped to make a difference. To get to the levels like the twenty million dollars raised last year, Goodwill needs bigger donations - such as a car or truck.
Donating your car can give you a break on your taxes. You will also help someone in need. Your car will either be sold to raise money for Goodwill Industries many projects, or it will be sold at a discount price to a person in need of cheap, reliable transport. Any way you look at it, if you donate a car or truck to Goodwill Industries, it's a positive. If you are worried that making a vehicle donation will take too much time and effort, Charity Dispatch can help by making the whole process much easier.
