digital-content-layout-300x300 Online there are a variety of digital content types that you need to know about, because the more content that you put out there the more attention you will get from your potential customers. However, you must remember that the quality of your content will have a direct correlation to the response you are going to get. If you content is dull packed full of information that is already out there on hundreds of websites then you are hardly going to get a big following.

On the other hand, if your digital content is fresh, exciting, creates controversy, informative or can make your audience laugh then you will have people coming back for more. And essentially that is what you want out of a content marketing plan, to draw in visitors so that they like your content enough to keep coming back. The more frequently they visit your site the more chances you have to market to them your products.

Articles

When creating articles it is not quantity that will win the game for you, but quality. It is far better to create one superb article of over a 1000 words, that 10 or even 100, 500 word articles that are nothing more than junk written for the search engines. In fact producing poor quality content will do you more harm than good in two ways. Firstly, people will stop visiting your website, and will certainly not buy anything from you if you can’t even produce half decent content.

Secondly, recent Google updates have penalized websites that produce poor quality digital content. In the past you could get away with putting lousy content out there and ranking for the top spots, but now the SEO game has changed, and if you want to stay in the game then you will focus on creating articles that are as good as you can make them.

E-mail Content

You must capture the e-mails of your potential customers if you want to have the ability to market to them at an ongoing basis. Without their e-mails, what happens is that you allow your visitors to leave your website with the possibility of them ever finding you again. For more information on e-mail marketing check out the article called “What are types of Digital Marketing Traffic?”.

E-mail content differs from articles because it needs to be shorter and more to the point. Most people skim over their email’s and therefore you need to write in such a way that allows the reader to access sections of the email very easily. This can be done by using headlines and bolding certain keywords. Furthermore, when creating e-mail messages you must be very careful with what subject lines you come up with. Some people write subject lines without giving the matter special attention, but if you do that then what may happen is your open rates will suffer.

Videos
digital-businessman-272x300 In recent years videos have become a popular way for people to digest information; you only have to look at the success of Youtube to realize that this is the case. For some people looking at a video is easier than reading a long article, which is why you need to have this type of content on your website. The reason why marketing videos can be very effective is because you can convey personality and a sense of urgency to greater effect. In the video you can tell people something about yourself; perhaps something that they can relate to, and by doing so you will increase your level of connection with your audience. This will improve your trustworthiness and as a result you will have an easier time selling products.

If you don’t have a good quality camera and a suitable place to shoot a video then you must hire a video production company. Cutting corners will only make you look bad in front of your potential customer if you videos are of poor quality. Furthermore, video production companies have a lot of experience with marketing videos, and can even help you improve the message that your marketing video is trying to put out there.

Importance of User Generated Digital Content

User generated digital content such as comments, guest posts, and even Twitter or Facebook streams are very important for any website. People like to visit websites that are popular, and a way of letting your visitors know that your website is popular is to allow user generated content because it shows that other people are visiting your website and interacting with it website.

Also if the comments are of a very positive nature regarding your website then that will do wonder for winning over your traffic. You can even enter any debates that are going on in the comments section, because if people see the owner of a website interacting with the audience it only increases their interest in that website.

People Love Lists

For most niches what you will find is that people like list type content, such as “5 foods that are good for you” or, “10 celebrities that you mustn’t mimic”. This might be because such digital content is very easy to digest, you knowing going into the piece that it will be exactly what is says in the title. And each point is usually bolded which makes it easy to get the gist about the whole piece of content by simply scanning the content, as opposed to reading everything all the way through.
You can make lists on a lot of things in your niche and people will enjoy reading them; it is one of the easier pieces of content to create. However, if you feel that if you are unable to create high quality content for any of the content types discussed in this article then outsource the work to a professional. The investment you make will pay off in the end, and you will see the result that you are after. For more information on internet marketing download our “Small Business Digital Marketing Checklist”.
